Elegant and Beautiful Lace Off-the-Shoulder Ball Gown Wedding Dress
The Regency Dress by Monique Lhuillier was the wedding dress of my dreams. I had the best night of my life in this dress and even though I only wore her for a few hours, it was pure magic from my first fitting, to walking down the aisle, to the final moment I changed into my after-party dress. I am tearing up just thinking about these moments in this perfect dress.
The dress is gorgeous and grand without feeling heavy or fussy. In lieu of sparkles or beading, the appliqué petals throughout give it texture and dimension for a chic and timeless look that aligned with our backyard summer fete under sailcloth tents. I fell in love with the fit, a fitted bodice with off-the-shoulder petal sleeves and a dramatic skirt that looks stunning as a train or bustled. I felt so elegant during the ceremony and for the reception, we tucked in the sleeves for a strapless look and I was able to party!
Regency was the first dress I tried on at the Monique Lhuillier flagship store on Madison Ave. and I knew it was the one right away. In total, I traveled back to NYC 4 times for fittings and minor tweaks/alterations.
Alterations:
- We added cups to the bust so that the bodice was no longer sheer (originally, you could see my nipples through the fabric lol)
- We added support at the waist with an interior belt so that the bodice felt "snatched" and could support the full skirt
- We added an additional button to the bustle (hidden under one of the petals) for a smooth and chic bustle
- We adjusted the length so that the skirt would be long enough but not too long when I switched into sneakers for the reception
Condition: The dress is in pristine condition. The cleaners had never seen a dress post-wedding look so clean and well-taken care of. I am very gentle with my clothes and my planning team ensured that no one stepped on or spilled on my dress during the reception. I only wore the dress for 3 hours, but those were truly the most magical 3 hours of my life and I hope to find someone who will cherish this dress and appreciate the beauty of it just like I did.
